Botanical Gardens For Biodiversity
The National Botanical Garden of Wales are dedicated to the research and conservation of biodiversity, sustainability, as well as lifelong learning, and enjoyment, of the people. They have a DNA bank of all Welsh plants which they match with pollinators in an attempt to discover which plants they prefer. They have also started the 'Saving Pollinators Scheme', which is focused on encouraging growers and nursery owners to sign up and show commitment to being peat and pesticide free. Peat free compost is important with regards to biodiversity as it improves the strength and workability of the soil, allowing roots systems to penetrate more easily, which allows them to find water and nutrients. The more plants we can grow more easily, the better we will become at converting carbon into oxygen!
